SPECIAL EVENT
WAC Performing Arts Season Preview
Not only is tonight the Walker's weekly "Target Free Thursday" event, where free admission to the museum is the rule of the day, but it also marks the unofficial kickoff of the 2009-2010 performing arts season! Grab a seat in the McGuire Theater at 7 p.m. and be treated to a special preview of what the WAC and their many collaborators have up their sleeves for this year and next. Senior Curator of Performing Arts, Philip Bither, takes you on tour through impending performances of experimental and traditional dance, rock and pop music and innovative, fresh new theater works. See presentations by Bither, the Guthrie Theater, and Out There and find out why "this year's programming offers a window on some of the most arresting and influential live performance work being made around the world." We can't wait to hear all about it!
7 p.m., Walker Art Center, McGuire Theater, 1750 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, Free
A tornado can't keep the Electric Fetus down for long! Quickly bouncing back from their recent bout with natural disaster, the Fetus retorts by throwing their monthly music and
art bash, Minneconomy, as if nothing ever happened. Pop into the legendary and resilient record shop tonight for gourmet treats with featured artisan, chocolatier B.T. McElrath at 6:30 p.m. (who we guarantee will make sweet music in your mouth) complimented by live musical performances by up and comers The Red Pens at 7 p.m. and local scene staples Gospel Gossip at 7:45 p.m. All this for the recession-proof price of FREE.
6:30 p.m., Electric Fetus, 2000 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Free

Soundstage with Demietoile: Volume Quatre
Don your darkest sunglasses and throw on a sexy trenchcoat as Clubhouse Jäger and our pals at l'etoile magazine present an evening of mystery, romance, deception and
suspense -- with a killer dance track! The fourth installment of Soundstage features a dual DJ extravaganza set to the backdrop of sensual and artsy spy flicks, Roman Coppola's CQ and Stanley Donen's Charade. Demietoile and special guest Deus Ex Machina's deck escapades reinvent the soundtracks to these classic films, spinning tasty obscure foreign synth-pop, synth-rock favorites, local rockstars, sexy italo disco, '80s minimal and forgotten electro sounds. Listen for tracks from Gary Numan, the Red Pens, Lookbook, In Flagranti and Absolute Body Control, just to name a few. Plus, indulge in $3.50 Red Stripes and $2.50 Premiums all night long!
9 p.m., Clubhouse Jager, 923 Washington Avenue N., Minneapolis, Free
Extra: It just so happens that Secrets' very own Juleana Enright aka Deus Ex Machina is tonight's special guest DJ, so come down and say hi and get your Thursday night dance on!
