Gallery Grooves: Studio Series

Don't miss this special edition of Gallery Grooves, forever known as the coolest way to introduce yourself to new sights, sounds, and flavors.  The first in our new "Studio Series," we visit the more-than-a-studio space of artist Brant Kingman, known both for his eclectic art work and his notoriously creative late night parties, a la 3-ring circus. Double that up with our homage to MNfashion's Fall Fashion Week, and you have Art on Your Sleeve! Plan on some artful music, entertainment, people, food and drink, and backdrop as we invite the fashion and art crowds to join forces and literally - or figuratively - display their art on their sleeve.  Dress creatively and you are all set for the night. Green Eggs, No Ham: A 3-Minute Egg Fundraiser  

Tonight, join 3-Minute Egg, the local daily video blog and weekly public television program focused exclusively on the arts, as they put the FUN in fundraiser. Created and produced by St. Paul Pioneer Press staff arts writer and managing editor of the Walker Art Center's magazine, Matt Peiken, the medium focuses exclusively on local artists and the Twin Cities art subculture. Known as "the Twin Cities arts seen," 3-Minute Egg uniquely highlights everything from the well-known forms of music, theater, and visual art to the more alternative happenings in slam poetry, avant-garde performance art and more. If it's local, we guarantee it's under 3-Minute Egg's art coverage umbrella. With host Rachel Breen and over 15 local co-hosts, tonight's soiree will be loaded with unbridled talent, great conversation and extreme artsy energy. WAM Chatter

The always insightful and inspiring programming of the Weisman Art Museum continues tonight with their monthly WAM Chatter event. Fashioned in the popular "pecha kucha" presentation format, panelists are allowed 20 slides and 20 seconds per each to explain their relevance in regards to a general topic or question. Tonight's topic? The state of the news! With the ever-changing world of media and the impact of the blogsphere, citizen journalism, radio, and television has made in regards to how we digest our information, the discussion could go on and on -- so it will definitely be interesting to see what these thoughtfully chosen panelists have to say on the subject. Hear/see the smart and varied opinions of Paul Schmelzer, editor of the Minnesota Independent; Chris Ison, professor of journalism at the University of Minnesota; and artist Kathryn Refi in this fun, rapid-fire presentation. Not to mention, you've simply got to take a gander at the Rauschenberg exhibit, on display now at the Weisman!
