We can always count on the crew over at Take Up Productions to bring us a bevy of fabulous films from all eras and genres. This time around they spotlight Audrey Hepburn, movie starlet, fashion icon, and all around classy dame. Tonight introduces a month long series of Hepburn films, screening every Monday through October 12th (It'll be all we can do to not write about each and every one!) and we're quite certain Roman Holiday is the perfect flick to kick things off. The tale of a rebellious Princess who shucks her royal duties during a highly publicized European tour to live it up in Rome -- shenanigans, of course, ensue. Mark your calendar for upcoming Hepburn films Sabrina, Charade, Love in the Afternoon, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Signature Songs

This week take your lunch break at the Landmark Center and enjoy the classical musical stylings of the Schubert Club! "Signature Songs" is a six day celebration of music and manuscripts from the vaults of the Schubert's Museum. Featuring classic works by such composers as Mozart, Brahms, Haydn, and of course, Schubert, will be performed live by the talented musicians and vocalists. Brown bag it, or grab sandwich from the yummy Anita's Cafe, conveniently located in the Landmark's atrium.

Dirty Three

The Twin Cities is in for a special musical treat as Australian trio, Dirty Three, breezes into the Southern Theater for a two-day stint. Rarely seen on U.S. turf, this innovative ensemble first made international waves in the mid-nineties with their unusual arrangements influenced by classical chamber music, rock and folk. Over the years, collaborations with indie rock powerhouses such as PJ Harvey, Cat Power, and Nick Cave solidified the group as influential contributors to the modern rock movement, with many citing them as trailblazers. Along with the performances at the Southern, a couple of cool satellite events have also popped up, including a moderated discussion tonight (5:30-6:30pm) at the Weisman Art Museum with the group that explores the similarities between their music and the work of artist Robert Rauschenberg. Tuesday night offers a casual post-show party at the Wiesman, which will feature refreshments, elbow-rubbing with the band and a pre-selected musical playlist of the band's personal favorites. Also, show up early to the Southern on both nights and enjoy a pre-show reception sponsored by the Red Stag Supper Club!
