MUSIC
Birthday Suits, Something Fierce, Real Numbers
Tonight's show at the Uptown Bar will definitely sear your ears with its extreme rockability! Houston punk throwbacks, Something Fierce, will provide catchy, danceable
anthems that have been likened to both the Buzzcocks and the Pixies; local duo, Birthday Suits, add fuel to the fire with their wicked, spastic rock n' roll antics; and the peppy punks of Real Numbers round things out. Grab a cold brew and rock out with the best of em' -- it is Monday after all.
9 p.m., Uptown Bar, 3018 Hennepin Avenue South, Uptown Minneapolis, Free
When famous local pizza joint, Red's Savoy, opened its latest spin-off location in the old Golooney's space earlier this year, pizza fanatics were all a-buzz. However, when we
think of Savoy's, somehow "art" does not come to mind, rather greasy, overly cheesy wheels of deliciousness, possibly some screaming children, and definitely a nostalgic, old-school pizza parlor vibe. But judging from their choice of artists to grace the walls over Uptown Art Fair weekend and through the month, we're re-thinking our stance. Gaze upon the oversized, imaginative works of local oil painter Sherri Dahl, and the busy, intricate found object sculptures of Hugh Mann while you stuff your face with some of the best pizza in town! Arty and delicious.
Open Mon-Thurs 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Fri-Sat 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.; Sun Noon to 11 p.m., Red's Savoy Pizza Uptown, 2329 Hennepin Avenue S., Uptown Minneapolis
