John Hughes Remembered

SPECIAL EVENT
Dont You (Forget About Me)

This week a generation mourns the passing of iconic film director, John Hughes. A man who so thoughtfully summed up teen angst and love in the form of heartfelt comedy, Hughes will always remain a symbol of youth and nostalgia to the children of the '80s. Tonight at Clubhouse Jager, partake in a fitting tribute to Mr. Hughes at this special edition of DJ Jake Rudh's "Transmission" dance party. Classic tunes from the era of Duckie, The Donger, and Ferris will be spun, while the familiar images of Hughes' epic films play in the background. Come down, raise a glass, and dance like it's 1986!

10 p.m., Clubhouse Jager, 923 Washington Avenue N., Minneapolis, Free

ART
Get StARTed Exhibit

Everyone's gotta start somewhere and luckily for the local artists in the Get StARTed exhibit, their "somewhere" starts in one of the cities' edgiest contemporary art galleries. Juried by Jennifer Phelps, the Burnet Gallery welcomes the work of eleven distinct artists from MCAD's MFA graduate program in an eclectic student show. In tonight's opening reception, the art of Adam Caillier, Amanda Lovelee, Anne Vagt, Branden Martz, Chris Held, Mary Davis, Megan Frauenhoffer, Nick Tews, Thomas Boyer, Timothy Baias, and Ginny Maki showcases the array of discipline the MCAD programs offer. Enjoy a tasty cocktail from Chambers' bar as you explore the work of these talented newcomers. Runs through Friday, September 11th. -Juleana Enright

6 - 9 p.m., The Burnet Gallery, Chambers Luxury Hotel, 901 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, Free

SPECIAL EVENT
Bally-Hoo! Burlesque Karaoke

Now this is something we haven't heard of: Burlesque Karaoke! The sultry dames of Midnight Muse Revue invite you to Downtown St. Paul's Station 4 tonight for an evening of exhibitionism and possible embarrassment. After a performance and quickie how-to from the Midnight Muse crew, you'll be invited to pick a song and get up and strut your sexy stuff, burlesque-style, for the audience. Minimal props will be available, so come dressed to impress (and remove) if you plan to perform. Prizes for the "sexiest shimmy" and the "best comedic act" of the night will be awarded, drinks will flow, and tassles will twirl -- and who can argue with that?

9 p.m., http://www.station-4.com/ ">Station 4, 201 E. 4th Street, Downtown St. Paul, $5
