Texas rockers Girl in a Coma tear up the Entry

MUSIC
Girl in a Coma

It's all about girl-powered rock n' roll tonight as San Antonio's Girl in a Coma makes the scene at the Entry. With a melodic yet fierce sound, this trio of bad-ass babes will leave you feeling nostalgic for the days of yore when the Riot Grrrl movement ruled the underground music scene. With notes of metal and rockabilly intertwined, Girl in a Coma may inspire fist-pumping and liberal whiskey drinking. Kicking things off is Miss Derringer, who reminds us of a rockabilly cross between Gwen Stefani and Lady Gaga.

8 p.m., 7th Street Entry, 701 1st Avenue N., Minneapolis, $8, 18+

Extra: Looking for more live music tonight? Cross over to the Mainroom to check out reggae/hip hop sensation Matisyahu or traipse over to the Dakota Jazz Club to groove with the legendary Dr. John.

MUSIC
Relax: Go To It

Summer 2009 seems to be rampant with awesome dance parties, and tonight's event at the Kitty Cat Klub is a perfect example. Party like it's Friday night with DJs Real Talk Radio and The Nightstalker, who will get you movin' with a stellar selection of "disco diamonds, funk gems, and solid gold Italo." Tonight is the debut of this new monthly event, which will feature a rotating cast of guest DJs and cool projected visuals from local video artists. What's better? No cover! So you can feel free to indulge in a fancy cocktail or something fried off the Kitty Cat's menu, which is powered by upstairs neighbor, Annie's Parlour.

9 p.m. to 2 a.m., Kitty Cat Klub, 315 14th Avenue SE, Dinkytown Minneapolis, Free, 18+
