Q.M.C. Pride Concert
The most colorful part of summertime is not the bloomin' flowers, it's the Twin Cities Pride Festival! The third largest gay pride event in the country, this annual extravaganza drew nearly half a million people in 2008. Combined with the official festival in Loring Park during the last week in June and the numerous special events leading up to it, Twin Cities Pride is one of the most impressive, inspiring, and dynamic community events of the year. Tonight head to the Como Lakeside Pavilion in St. Paul for a fitting kick off to Pride season with the Queer Music Consortium. The Consortium includes a number of local music organizations such as the Calliope Women's Chorus, One Voice Mixed Chorus, TransVoices, the Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus, and the Minnesota Freedom Band. Listen in as these pros treat you to a top notch musical experience -- and for free no less!
7 p.m., Como Lakeside Pavilion, 1360 N. Lexington Pkwy, St. Paul, Free
SPECIAL EVENT
Coffee & Cigarettes & Trivia
There are a lot of trivia nights in the Twin Cities, this we know. The new Monday night edition at Bob's Java Hut, however, looks like a pop culture junkie's dream come true!
Join your host, local artist Toneski (a charming goof ball if we've ever met one) for an evening of trivia, smoke breaks and "dope prizes." Topics include: obscure music, hip hop culture, indie films, album covers, media whoring and much, much more. Grab an iced java and kick back for some laughs and a chance to prove your useless knowledge elitism.
Every Monday, 8 p.m., Bob's Java Hut, 2651 Lyndale Avenue S., Uptown, Minneapolis, Free
