All the Pretty Horses 15th Anniversary
Any rock band that's survived 15 years together definitely has a few scandalous skeletons in their musical career closet, and local dark-glam rockers All the Pretty Horses are no exception. Borrowing their flamboyant look from Bowie and The New York Dolls, but creating a sound more spikes than glitter, ATPH have managed to garner an ironclad local and international fan base. Despite demanding tour schedules, an ever-changing band line-up and a recent hiatus (which we prayed wouldn't be permanent), ATPH founder Venus DeMars -- who was also the subject of the 2003 documentary, Venus of Mars, which focused on the life the charismatic transgender front woman -- is back with new band mates and a series of retrospective shows to celebrate 15 years of ATPH success. Each Thursday during May, the band will be performing one of their records in its entirety, beginning with the self-titled debut album A.T.P.H. Queens and Angels will follow on May 14th, with Ruin May 21st, and Creature on May 29th. Tonight's anniversary show also features a performance from local electro rock band Milkbar and a set by DJ Mach Fox. -Juleana Enright
