Venus DeMars and All the Pretty Horses Celebrate 15 Years

MUSIC
All the Pretty Horses 15th Anniversary

Any rock band that's survived 15 years together definitely has a few scandalous skeletons in their musical career closet, and local dark-glam rockers All the Pretty Horses are no exception. Borrowing their flamboyant look from Bowie and The New York Dolls, but creating a sound more spikes than glitter, ATPH have managed to garner an ironclad local and international fan base. Despite demanding tour schedules, an ever-changing band line-up and a recent hiatus (which we prayed wouldn't be permanent), ATPH founder Venus DeMars -- who was also the subject of the 2003 documentary, Venus of Mars, which focused on the life the charismatic transgender front woman -- is back with new band mates and a series of retrospective shows to celebrate 15 years of ATPH success. Each Thursday during May, the band will be performing one of their records in its entirety, beginning with the self-titled debut album A.T.P.H. Queens and Angels will follow on May 14th, with Ruin May 21st, and Creature on May 29th. Tonight's anniversary show also features a performance from local electro rock band Milkbar and a set by DJ Mach Fox. -Juleana Enright

Seven Rooftop Patio Opening

If you ask us, there is nothing better than sitting back on a breezy patio with good friends, good conversation, and an icy mojito in hand. Tonight the swanky Seven Skybar in Downtown Minneapolis kicks off patio season in epic style, with a little help from snazzy party planner Richard Moody. A fashion show will take over the entire rooftop with models sporting fresh looks from Roberto Rivera of Desperta Clothing and legendary Minneapolis artist Brant Kingman. Enjoy tasty hors d'oeuvres a la Seven, great drink specials, and live music from Matt Dunsmoor featuring Stan Dotseth. The party continues into the night with more entertainment, dancing, drinks, and beautiful people. A fabulous Thursday evening, most def!
