Fashion Feud Finals
Tonight's fashionable face off at the 7th Street Entry is the final showdown in a series of similar events that pit two designers against each other. Local fashionistas and first round winners, Laura Fulk and Jenny Carle, sew it out live on stage for your entertainment. Drawing only from a bag of raw clothing material, scissors, needles, thread, and accessories, the designers will have exactly one hour to create a wearable masterpiece. Upon completion, the designs will be paraded around on live models, leaving it up to the audience to choose a winner by applause. Hosted by independent Uptown clothing boutique, Cliché, and sponsored by big business artistic-encouragers Scion, tonight's Fashion Feud will most likely inspire you to revamp your own wardrobe, D.I.Y. style -- or perhaps buy a piece from one of these independent local designers!
7 p.m. to 10 p.m., 7th Street Entry, 701 1st Avenue, Minneapolis, Free
Tonight we say goodbye to this awesome bi-monthly music night at the Turf Club, which pays homage to the good old days. Reloaded Wednesdays is a respectful nod to the
old Groove Garden series "Freeloaded Wednesdays," which was held at The Front back in the late nineties. The final installment of Reloaded will be held tonight at the Turf. Lead by scene staple Sean 'Twinkie Jiggles' McPherson of Heiruspecs, Reloaded focuses on hip-hop, r&b, and jazz, with a promise of "no fu$*%ing rock music," according to the Myspace page. Twinkie and crew also run the "Trivia Mafia" which puts on trivia nights at over 14 venues in the Twin Cities each week -- an unfortunate, but understandable, factor in the canceling of Reloaded. Tonight, soak up the musical stylings of The Average Bears, Omaur Bliss, Ben Cook Feltz, and DJ Anton -- and bid adieu to this fantastic music series.
8 p.m., Turf Club, 1601 University Avenue, St. Paul, $4
"Art in Trial Size" is the tag-line for this monthly performance party, and they aren't kidding! Sample Night Live will titillate with exuberant
performances by rock bands, performance artists, theater-types, dancers, novelty acts, wonder kids, comedians, improv artists, and more - all in 10 minute bit-sized portions. Designed as a preview for upcoming and ongoing local art events, this variety show will whet your whistle and inspire you to get out and experience the Twin Cities, or simply indulge your Attention Deficit Disorder. Feel free to bring the kiddies, but be warned - while the first act at 7p.m. is G-rated family fun, the second act at 8 p.m. includes (oh-la-la!) "unrated art" not necessarily suitable for youngsters. Tonight's Master of Ceremonies is the one and only Foxy Tann, along with performances by Mu Daiko Drum Group, live painting by Linnea Doyle, slam poetry by Inky, and tons more!
7 p.m., History Theater, 30 E. 10th Street, Downtown St. Paul, $20, Order online HERE.
