The Donna Uchizono Dance Company Brings Art, Music, and Movement to the Walker

PERFORMANCE
Donna Uchizono Company's Thin Air

Since its founding in 1990 by artistic director and choreographer, Donna Uchizono, the inventive dance narratives this company brings to life have visually and emotionally haunted audiences in the U.S. and beyond. Uchizono's newest work, Thin Air, combines the iconic art-rock of guitarist and composer Fred Frith, the imagery of artist Michael Casselli, and her own choreography for a thrilling and moving sensory performance. But the drama doesn't stop there. Feel free to move about the museum before and after the performance, as tonight the Walker hosts Target Free Thursdays. Additional activities include the Collaborative Artists' Book reading; a Making the Music lecture led by artist Jason Moran; a Sound Bites art talk; and five film screenings (one of which, Man Push Cart, made Roger Ebert's Top 10 list for his Overlooked Film Festival). -Juleana Enright

8 p.m., Walker Art Center's McGuire Theater, 1750 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, $18 ($15 Walker Members)

MUSIC
Hot Roxx

If the name "Hot Roxx" sounds familiar, you may recall the well-loved rock n' roll specialty show on Radio K that ran from 2005-2008. Now off the air and fancy free, Hot Roxx has moved its glam rockin' jams to not one, but two monthly residencies: the Hexagon Bar (third Thursdays of every month) and Clubhouse Jager (first Thursdays). Tonight's edition brings you to North Loop watering hole Club Jager, where DJs Jen and Nick along with special guests Annie of Awesome Snakes and Tracy of the Psychedelicates will flip solid gold wax for your listening pleasure. Stuff yourself into those skin tight metallic pants you've been saving for a sexy occasion such as this, and strut on down. Dance the night away to classic gems from the likes of Bowie, New York Dolls, Roxy Music, and more, while sipping something strong from the bar. The perfect excuse to feather your hair on a Thursday evening!

10 p.m., Clubhouse Jager, 923 Washington Avenue N, Minneapolis, Free
