While the "official" MNFashion Week kicks off on Monday, designer Kimberly Jurek opted to get a jump on her fellow fashionistas with Exclusively Spring. A solo runway show
spotlighting her spring line for Kjurek Couture, tonight's festivities are especially lux, with the backdrop of the beautiful W Hotel as the venue. This fresh, ready to wear, collection is described by Jurek as "kimonos-meet-Little House on the Prairie." No stranger to the fashion scene, this prolific local designer already sells in boutiques nation-wide, and makes her living through her art -- an impressive feat to be sure. Also included in the show is Adrienne Grahn, whose handbags perfectly compliment Jurek's flirty fashions. Music by disco dreamboats Attitude City sets the scene. Tickets are available at local boutiques Cliché, Drama, Gallery 360 or Karma, or at the door.
Friday, 8 p.m., W Hotel, 821 Marquette Avenue S., Minneapolis, $10-$15

Gallery Grooves meets Go Live II
Gallery Grooves, presented by Jazz88 FM and Secrets of the City, visits 526 Salon Spa Gallery this month, where Stephen Trevino delves into the
second installment of Go Live. This is a happening in our books: art in action, performance art, music, style, and fashion on display, and let's not forget, art for sale. Nick Minenko (whose work is pictured here), and Martha Iserman, are the featured visual artists, musical interludes provided by Aaron Keith Stewart, and hair by 526 sylists. Nibble delectables from the great new deli across Selby, Cheeky Monkey. Sip on delicious wines selected by Chuck at Solo Vino. It's a neighborhood affair! The exhibit may linger, but Go Live II and Gallery Grooves are One Night Only-- as any self-respecting Happening would be. -Kris Henning

Now in its 25th season, the Red Eye Theatre keeps things top notch with the regional premiere of God's Ear. Written by critically acclaimed playwright Jenny Schwartz and
directed by Steve Busa, God's Ear is a poignant tale of a family in mourning. A father, mother and daughter fight to communicate through their grief with painful emotion and sharp words. The dialogue-heavy play is filled with uncomfortable and heartbreaking moments punctuated by wonderful bits of humor, surprising musical interludes, and a surreal quality which aptly mirrors real-life, post-tragedy. Starring Sara Richardson and Dylan Fresco as the mother and father, while newcomer Meg Crawford portrays their young daughter, Lanie.
Friday & Saturday 8 p.m., Monday 7 p.m., Red Eye Theater, 15 W. 14th Street, Minneapolis, pay what you can Opening Night (Friday) and Monday the 20th, Saturday $25 + special reception

See work from Cartoon Network artist Megan Brain; Indonesian designer Sal Azad; Pink Hobo proprietor Shad Petosky; Mike Davis of Burlesque Design and many, many more. Based on a theme of "paper pop out toys" this show takes a bright, childlike spin on contemporary art.
