Nerd to Your Mother: MC Chris Brings Mad Geekery to the 7th Street Entry

MUSIC
MC Chris

In 2006 we went to an MC Chris show at the Entry. To sum it up in one awesome image: there was a guy wearing a Nintendo Power Glove as a fashion accessory. This New York-based rapper is not of the typical variety. His fist-pumping anthems about Star Wars, girl fumbles, and even drinking Robotussin abound. Just a regular looking white dude with an extraordinarily high-pitched voice, MC Chris is a hero to geeks everywhere; a social misfit with a hot beat behind his angst and a free-flowin' wordsmith of the most egotistically self-deprecating variety. If anything, tonight's show will be great people watching, but we're pretty sure you'll leave wishing you would have been nerdier in high school.

8 p.m., 7th Street Entry, 701 1st Avenue, Minneapolis, $16

WINE & DINE
TC Uncorked

Attention wine connoisseurs! TC Uncorked is back with another fantastic event just in time for Spring (our favorite season for liberal drinking). Head to Eat Street staple, Azia, for a worldly vino sampling of delightful proportions, featuring fancy sips such as White Bordeaux, Riesling, Sauvingnon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Torrontes, Shiraz-Grenach, Merlot, Malbec, Valpolicella and Tempranillo. Light appetizers will be served along with the wine as well. Tickets must be purchased in advance HERE. As of "press time" there were still tix available but don't wait too long -- TC Uncorked events tend to sell out!

7 p.m., Azia Restaurant, 2550 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis, $30

READINGS
The Big Bang Book Club

The Big Bang Book Club is one of only a few science book clubs, and the energy is high with all the talk of boosting science education and integrating science and art in our lives. So join us; all are welcome. Eat, drink, and merrily follow-along to a great, moderated conversation. April's book is Physics of the Impossible: A Scientific Exploration into the World of Phasers, Force Fields, Teleportation, and Time Travel by Michio Kaku. Teleportation, time machines, force fields, and interstellar space ships: is this the stuff of science fiction or of potentially attainable future technologies? Inspired by the fantastic worlds of Star Trek, Star Wars, and Back to the Future, renowned theoretical physicist and bestselling author Michio Kaku takes an informed, serious, and often surprising look at what our current understanding of the universe's physical laws may permit in the near and distant future.

Sponsored by: Magers & Quinn Booksellers; Secrets of the City; Center for Science, Technology and Public Policy; and Grumpy's.

7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Grumpy's Downtown, 1111 Washington Av. S. Minneapolis, Free
