DEMO Showcase
Every other Thursday the Diverse Emerging Music Organization (DEMO) serves up a sonic sampling of some of the coolest under-the-radar artists in the Twin Cities. Tonight's showcase is an eclectic treat with sets by singer/songwriter Jill Zimmerman, the buzzworthy Jenna Williams, funk-rockers The Moonrunners, indie kids SigCell, and experimental oddities Dada Trash Collage. Come hear some great live musicians that may just turn out to be the next big thing, and learn more about DEMO, a wonderful resource for musicians and music lovers alike.

Common Threads: Stories of Life After Trauma
While trauma isn't a ubiquitous life experience, overcoming pain is a common struggle that unites humankind. Tonight, the Parkway Theater presents a documentary
dedicated to the journey of self-healing by establishing a community linked thread. Directed by Amber Ward, Common Threads revolves around the lives of Connie Robillard and Marcel Duclos, survivors of abuse and neglect, and documents their inspiration story of healing, overcoming obstacles, and understanding the long term effects of sexual, emotional and physical abuse. Ticket sales will be donated to the non-profit organization, Free Arts Minnesota and Minnesota Women in Psychology. Join the filmmakers and the subjects for a question and answer series following the film.

Experimental and Media Arts Lecture
There is more to being experimental than just taking the "weird" route, as the twenty-one artists involved in this multi-media gallery show can
attest to. Tonight's event features a visiting critics program, examining the panoramic display of the artists associated with the Department of Art's Experimental and Media Arts program at the University of Minnesota between work years 2004-the present. Hosted by Northern Lights and critiqued by Liberal Arts professor and modal artist Diane Willows, the exhibition includes film, video, performance, interactive installation, sculpture, plus emergent of media so hybrid it has yet to be categorized. Join the artists for an event challenging the typical construct of the art realm.
