Aerial Ambition: Theater Latte Da at the Southern

Attention theater lovers, dance enthusiasts, and carnival connoisseurs! Today is the last day you'll be able to experience the magical delights of Theater Latte Da's latest production, Passage of Dreams. A breathtaking triad of one-act "aerial musicals," this unique performance will feature visually stunning pieces: Passage of Dreams, Thirst, and Bessie's Birthday. Playwright Katie Baldwin Eng and composer Jeff Tang weave these beautiful tales, creating a thoughtfully choreographed trapeze and aerial extravaganza and a lush soundscape.

An evening of jazz is just what you need to kick the week off proper. Make your way to intimate hideaway The Artists' Quarter for an early set from local jazz masters Headspace featuring Rob Dewey on piano, Nick Haas on guitar, Rich Casey on bass and Spencer McGinnis on drums. Stick around after the show for open mic night, where you may just be tempted to debut that song and tap dance routine you've been saving for a rainy day. Make an evening of it with a pre-show dinner at the brand new American Burger Bar on Wabasha, a gourmet burger joint helmed by Chef Rino Baglio, formerly of Pazzaluna.

Monday Madness

If you're scoping out a few possible places to take your date this evening, then this romantic cafe with a bohemian twist ought to be at the top of your list. The Black Dog Cafe and Wine Bar offers a great deal each week with "Monday Madness." Score a gourmet pizza and a bottle of wine or four bottles of beer for a reasonable 20 bones. Located in Saint Paul's arty-pants neighborhood, Lowertown, you'll be treated to local art on the walls and a friendly vibe from the cool cat staff. The Monday Madness special runs Noon to close every Monday.
