Hill House Parlor Concert
Monday night never sounded so sweet! Head to the historic James J. Hill House tonight as the Schubert Club picks up where it left off in 2008 with this popular Parlor Concert series. Enjoy the classical sounds of the Hill House Chamber Players as they perform live in the restored art gallery of this beautiful Summit Avenue mansion. Tonight's program includes "Four Duets, Opus 39", for violin and cello by Reinhold Glier; "The Turning of the Year" for flute and guitar by Jeffrey Van; "Sonata, Op. 16," for flute, viola and guitar by Joseph Kreutzer; and a String Quintet by W.A. Mozart. Enjoy complimentary refreshments during intermission, then top it all off with a tour of the mansion following the performance.
7:30 p.m., James J. Hill House, 240 Summit Avenue, St. Paul, $16; $14 for MHS members or Schubert Club subscribers.
WINE & DINE
Wilde Roast Cafe Cheap Date Night
All-you-can-drink wine? Now that's a concept we can definitely get behind. Northeast Minneapolis' Wilde Roast Cafe has one of the best "cheap date" nights in town.
For only $25 you get two glasses of "bottomless" red or white house wine, plus two entrees (choose any pizza or field green salad). Named after famed playwright Oscar Wilde, this cozy neighborhood cafe has a modern-Victorian feel, complete with candelabra, roaring fires, and brocade sofas. Local artists' work adorn the walls and the romantically lit ambiance is just the ticket if you're looking to impress that special someone. This deal runs Monday through Thursday every week!
Extra: We also love Wilde Roast for daytime wi-fi action and coffee convos!
5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Wilde Roast Cafe, 518 East Hennepin Avenue, Northeast Minneapolis, $25 per couple.
