MUSIC
Martin Luther King Day Record Party

If you're at all down with the local blogsphere and/or the local music scene, you've probably stumbled upon the sonically-inclined typings of the bloggers at Switchblade Comb. With contributors who moonlight as managers of the Uptown Theater and employees of local music venues,  Switchblade Comb offers a combination of offbeat music and movie news that any hipper-than-thou Twin Citizen ought to appreciate. Each Monday, join DJ wonderkids RichmanVA, Emily, Sky, and special guests as they take over the Uptown Bar for an all-vinyl record spinning shindig, presented by Switchblade Comb. Promising "No Eagles, no Phil Collins, and no bummers," as well as dirt-cheap beer specials ($1.75 Premiums, anyone?). Tonight's special edition will feature a sweet selection of 60's & 70's soul in honor of the late, great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

9 p.m. to close, Uptown Bar, 3018 Hennepin Avenue, Uptown Minneapolis, Free

Stop into this Uptown seafood mecca for their daily happy hour, which features 2-for-1 cocktails, $1 oysters, and a cheapie appetizer menu that will definitely keep you warm and cozy. Happy Hour runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., then again from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. to ensure early birds and night owls alike can indulge their summer nostalgia.
