Reload with Quilombolas at the Turf Club

MUSIC
Reloaded Wednesday

This bi-monthly music night at the Turf Club pays homage to the good old days. Reloaded Wednesdays is a respectful nod to the old Groove Garden series "Freeloaded Wednesdays," which was held at The Front back in the late nineties. Lead by talented scene staple Sean 'Twinkie Jiggles' McPherson of Heiruspecs, Reloaded focuses on hip-hop, r&b, and jazz, with a promise of "no fu$*%ing rock music" according to their Myspace page. Tonight's edition will feature the spicy sounds of world-fusion funk masters Quilombolas, along with locals Great Lion White Snake, Kredentials, and DJ Anton!

9 p.m., Turf Club, 1601 University Avenue W., St. Paul, $4

EXHIBITS
A Nordic Christmas

Minnesota's Scandinavian roots are really no secret, but if you haven't made the trek to the American Swedish Institute you're missing out on the real deal. A Nordic Christmas, ASI's annual holiday exhibit will charm and delight youngsters, oldsters, and even those of the non-Swedish variety. Featuring decadently decorated trees, paired with festive table settings from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Finland. The favorite, however, is the Swedish Christmas tree, covered with heart shaped ginger cookies, straw goats, woven paper heart baskets and julgranskarameller (candy-filled tissue decorations).

Noon to 8 p.m., American Swedish Institute, 2600 Park Avenue, Minneapolis, $6 Adults, $5 Seniors, $4 Children, Children 6 years and under are free.

MUSIC
Open Stage with Molly Maher

Head to the West Bank for an eclectic evening of music and mystery as local musicians surprise, amaze, and possibly make you cringe at this fun Open Stage event. "St. Paul Americana" darlin' Molly Maher plays gracious hostess, and will kick things off with a sweet selection of her own tunes. Get there early and sign yourself up to test your talents before a live audience, with the Cedar's top notch sound system as your security blanket.

7 p.m., Cedar Cultural Center, 416 Cedar Avenue S., Minneapolis, Free
