Christine Rosholt's "Lipstick" Makes its Mark

MUSIC
Christine Rosholt Quintet CD Release

One of the hardest workin' ladies in the Twin Cities jazz scene, Christine Rosholt prepares to release Lipstick, a collection of sultry and satisfying tunes that wouldn't be out of place in an old-timey piano bar. With her porcelain doll good looks and arresting stage presence, Rosholt delivers the goods with a twinkle in her eye and an amazing back-up band to boot. This is one cool kitty you don't want to miss! And if you ask us (or if you don't), you can never go wrong with the intimate ambiance of the Dakota Jazz Club.

7 p.m., The Dakota Jazz Club, 1010 Nicollet Avenue S., Minneapolis, $5

MUSIC
The Invincible Kids

Yeah, we used to think we were invincible too. However, years of drunken, youthful tomfoolery and unruliness have since proven that theory wrong. Still, we're tempted by the peppy, fresh sounds of this energetic young troupe of rockers. Hit the Turf tonight for a sonic romp that will get your frozen blood pumping and perhaps remind you that age is just a number. The Turf slings a mean drink as well, but remember, hangovers don't discriminate based on age and you have to go to work tomorrow, like the responsible adult you are. Middle Picker and Man is Doomed kick things off.

8 p.m., The Turf Club, 1601 University Avenue, St. Paul, $5

I love Christine and am hoping to make it to this tonight! She's playing my wedding reception next year. If you haven't heard her yet, I highly recommend that you check her out.
