Twin Cities' Singles Epidemic Addressed at North Loop Bar

SPECIAL EVENT
Silver + Gold

Head to the North Loop for an evening of good music, cheap cocktails and awkward flirting! Silver + Gold, a laid back and hip singles party at Clubhouse Jager, encourages you to work your best "sly winks and sideways glances" tonight. Play it cool up at the bar or show off your fly dance moves (Helicopter, Running Man, Butterfly, etc) with fresh beats courtesy of DJ Jonathan Ackerman, playing sizzlin' electro, pop, rock and more. Two-for-one drink specials are in full effect all night, so you can send something sweet to sip to that lovely lady or lad across the room. Too shy? Silver + Gold has it's own "Missed Connections" style text message-based flirting service for after-the-fact regrets. If you haven't yet made the trek to this cute and cozy warehouse district hot spot, tonight is the night!

10 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Tuesday, Clubhouse Jager, 923 Washington Ave N, Minneapolis, Free

ART
Toys on Roids

Prolific local artist and designer Sean Tubridy has had a long-time fascination with Polariod film, and his current body of work, Toys on Roids makes that abundantly clear. Inspired by "the golden age of design, a heyday of atomic age optimism with promises of robots, jetpacks and flying cars," this fun exhibit in the SooVAC's Toomer Gallery will delight art lovers and Polaroid buffs of all ages. Check out Tubridy's clever collection of over 60 Polariod images, depicting toys such as vintage tin robots and contemporary vinyl figures in various quirky and staged situations. While you're there, take a peek at ArtWise: 15 Years of Kulture Klub on exhibit in the main gallery, or kick off your holiday shopping quest in the Soo's arty gift shop.

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Open Tuesday-Sunday, hours vary), Soo Visual Arts Center, 2640 Lyndale Avenue, Minneapolis, Free (donations accepted)

THEATER
Souvenir

The Jungle has another hit on its hands with Souvenir; a comical look at the life of Florence Foster Jenkins. Perhaps one of the stangest performers in the history of the stage, Jenkins, a wealthy socialite who fancied herself a great opera singer, was know far and wide for her terrible, off-key warbling. As word of her "talent" spread, so grew her celebrity -- ultimately leading to a sold out performance at Carnegie Hall. Written by Stephen Temperley and directed by Joel Sass, Souvenir paints a hilarious and touching portrait of this eccentric and delusional real-life character. Runs through December 21st.

7:30 p.m., Jungle Theater, 2951 Lyndale Avenue S., Minneapolis, $28
