Sebastien Grainger Moves Musical Mountains

MUSIC
Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains
You may remember Sebastien Grainger as the volatile vocalist/drummer of buzzed-about hipster rock duo Death From Above 1979. Since his days of notorious stage antics and record label drama, Grainger has turned over a new leaf with his current self-titled project, Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains. Head down to The Entry this evening for a searing earful of twitchy rock n' roll anthems that throw back to classic punk and Sonic Youth-esque frenzied feedback. Special guests Josh Reichmann and Bill Caperton kick things off.

8 p.m., 7th Street Entry, 701 1st Avenue N., Minneapolis, $8

FILM
Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands and Divorce, Italian Style
Ah, love. It's so complicated. Tonight, two classic foreign films at the Oak Street Cinema explore the arduous relationships. At 7:15 p.m. see famed Brazilian flick Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands, a story of a woman torn between the ghost of her late, irresponsible husband and her bland new mate. Then, at 9:15, take in Divorce, Italian Style, Pietro Germi's 1961 satiric farce on Italian divorce laws and aristocracy. Both films are sure-to-please award winners, so see one, or both, and thank your lucky stars for your (hopefully) sane sweetie. Runs through Tuesday.

7:15 p.m. & 9:15 p.m., Oak Street Cinema, 309 Oak Street SE, Minneapolis, $8 per screening ($6 Seniors, $5 Members and Students)

MUSIC
Ahmad Jamal
Not many people can say that they've personally influenced the sound of Miles Davis, Keith Jarret, and Herbie Hancock - but acclaimed jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal can. Tonight at The Dakota, you'll find out why, as Jamal tickles the ivories live on stage for your listening pleasure. This 78 year old master of the keys is still amazing audiences far and wide with his original sound and striking melodies. Not to mention, The Dakota is one of the most intimate and acoustically phenomenal spots in the city to see live music - and their wine list isn't too shabby either. Runs through Wednesday.

7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., Dakota Jazz Club, 1010 Nicollet Avenue, Downtown Minneapolis, $20-$40
