Queen of the Mosaic: Sharra Frank Shares Her Secrets

SPECIAL EVENT
Sharra Frank: Mosaic Workshop

Gather all those chipped dishes and random single earrings. Mosaic artist (and Rake office neighbor!) Sharra Frank will guide you in creating a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Give new life to what you thought was just pretty, useless clutter and unearth the creativity we know you have inside you. No previous experience required. Shara offers hands-on classes in her studio which features an array of her completed pieces. While their intricacy may seem daunting, her mellow demeanor and know-how will surely appease any worries you may have. After all, Sharra began her stellar career on a whim and simply kept learning along the way. She'll be demonstrating some of her techniques on KARE 11's "Showcase Minnesota" TODAY at 10 am. Check out some pics of Sharra's most recent work on her website. Once inspired, sign up for a class. One starts tonight even, and there is limited space available. Stop by The Rake office Tuesday morning and show off your wares; we could use some more art on our cement walls. -Jill Yablonski

Tonight and Next Monday (2-night class), 6 pm-9 pm; Glass-on-Glass Workshop; Northrup King Building, 1500 Jackson St. NE, Ste. 469, Minneapolis; $99 (all supplies included)

MUSIC
Acoustic Archery Tour

Hit the Guthrie tonight for a beautiful and engaging acoustic show you won't soon forget! Join musicians Billy McLaughlin and Andy McKee as they team up for the Acoustic Archery Tour alongside special guests Dean Magraw and Stephen Bennet. If you've somehow avoided hearing about these artists, now's your chance to remedy that. World-class guitarist, composer and producer McLaughlin is a five-time Minnesota Music award winner whose latest album, Into the Light, incorporates guitar with classic string orchestra. McKee, widely revered as one of the most original acoustic soloists out there (20 million YouTube views can't be wrong) accompanies with his unusual style and stage presence. Hit up the Target Lounge at the Guthrie before or after the show for a glass o' vino or a Little House on the Prairie specialty cocktail - I'd recommend the Nasty Nellie!

7:30pm, Guthrie Theater, 818 2nd Avenue S, Minneapolis, $28

THEATER
Adventures in Mating

The perfect date night! Shake off those Monday blues with this comical "choose your own adventure" style theater piece. Crazy characters played by local funnyman Joseph Scrimshaw, Megan Kelly and We Gotta Bingo co-creator Jim Robinson take you on an interactive foray into the world of the blind date. You control the destiny of a mismatched couple who need your help making simple decisions such as red or white wine, kiss or slap, leave or stay, etc. Kick back with a cocktail and some mock duck rolls in the BLB's comfy theater and group-vote for decisions that will lead the couple down a different road each time, where hilarity will most definitely ensue. Stick around for beer and bowling after the show!

7pm (every Monday), Bryant Lake Bowl Theater, Lake & Bryant, Uptown Minneapolis, $12 ($10 with Fringe Button)
