It's a busy week ahead for serious eaters:
Monday, 10/20: Moti-i, the new Japanese sake brewpub and Japanese street food restaurant opens today in the former Machu Picchu location at Lake and Lyndale. The menu looks promising - dried squid, steamed buns and dumplings, ramen, Singapore rice noodles and more.
Tuesday, 10/21: When I stopped in last week at Bali, the new Indonesian restaurant in the former Safari space at 1410 Nicollet Ave. S., they weren't open for business yet, but one of the owners told me that if all goes according to plan - which it seldom does - Bali, the new Indonesian restaurant on Eat Street, will open Tuesday, 10/21. All your Indonesian favorites; including satay, gado-gado, and of course, kari kambing, spicy curried goat meat.
Wednesday, 10/22: If I didn't have to teach this Wednesday evening, I would definitely head over to Pi Bar and Restaurant, 2532 25th Ave. S., Minneapolis, for the Seward Neighborhood Group's wine tasting fundraiser. The tasting will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and will feature more than 100 wines, with food provided by Pi. Tickets available at Zipp's Liquors, 18 E. Franklin Ave., or at the door.
Thursday, 10/23: Hell's Kitchen has actually been open since Sunday, but they picked Thursday evening to throw their Opening Night Party at their new location, the former Rossi's Steak House at 80 S. 9th St. According to their website, they are now open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and have added a Hell on Wheels Grab & Go Lunch Express, and a Salvation Sundays Gospel Brunch. The party, which runs from 4:30 to 8 p.m., will feature complementary champagne, Bloody Marys and hors d'oeuvres, and a cash bar.
